A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to compost.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 201, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§201- Expanded use of compost. The director shall coordinate state efforts to: develop a system for quality assurance for compost use as plant bedding material; promote the use of compost as plant bedding material to potential end-users; and assist compost operators to develop and exploit an expanded market. The director shall form an advisory committee to assist in the formulation of recommendations concerning the development of a market for expanded use of compost as a plant bedding material."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
