A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to education.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Kapaa elementary school, which has over one thousand students, has pioneered a restructuring process known as "schools within a school." With a predicted loss in student enrollment during the upcoming school year, the school will not receive sufficient teacher allocation to continue moving forward with its innovative restructuring program.
The purpose of this Act is to allocate four additional teacher positions to Kapaa elementary school for the purpose of maintaining their schools within a school concept for fiscal year 2004-2005.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2004-2005, for the purpose of allocating four additional teacher positions to Kapaa elementary school for the purpose of maintaining its schools within a school concept for fiscal year 2004-2005.
SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2004.
