A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to license renewal.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 286-107, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (d) to read as follows:
"(d) An applicant for a renewal of the applicant's driver's license whether applying pursuant to subsections (b) or (c) shall pay the fee determined by the council of the appropriate county. An applicant convicted of driving under the influence of intoxicants under Chapter 291E, shall be subject, under this subsection, to an additional fee in the amount of $ , which shall become the realizations of each county police department in which the conviction occurred. This additional fee shall be imposed for two license renewal cycles and may be used to cover costs incurred by each county's police department related to the payment of compensation to prepare and attend any administrative hearings or judicial proceedings related to the offense. Payment of [the fee] these fees shall be by certified check or money order, tendered together with the application."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
