A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE Tenth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $18,863,306, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2003-2004, for the following capital improvements in the tenth senatorial district:

1. Hokulani elementary school, Oahu

A. Replace grease trap. $ 95,000

B Fire alarm upgrade. 172,000

C. Electrical upgrade. 100,000

D. Covered walkway from A building to computer room. 25,000

E. Replace water line. 90,000

F. Reroof E building. 82,000

G. Resurface/restripe parking lot. 100,000

Total funding 664,000

2. Lunalilo elementary school, Oahu

A. Electrical upgrade to entire school. $ 300,000

B. Installation of ceiling fans in building A classrooms. 15,000

C. Extension of concrete wall fronting first floor walkway. 80,000

D. Installation of security screen in buildings A, C, and D. 24,000

Total funding 419,000

3. Noelani elementary school, Oahu

A. Additional classroom building. $ 3,000,000

B. Multipurpose building. 2,500,000

C. New cafeteria. 2,500,000

D. Tiled roadway through the field. 200,000

Total funding 8,200,000

4. Roosevelt high school, Oahu

A. Design and construction of handicap ramps at drop-off and school evacuation areas. $ 5,000

B. Design and construction of handicap ramps for stadium and auditorium accessibility 10,000

C. Ground and site improvements to the multi-purpose patio. 40,000

D. Auditorium renovation 2,500,000

E. Design and construction of air conditioning system to building A 500,000

F. Design and construction of security fences around campus. 100,000

G. Design and construction of a multi-athletic track complex in the stadium. 2,500,000

Total funding 5,655,000

5. Stevenson middle school, Oahu

A. Electrical upgrade. $ 500,000

B. Repair or replacement of school wide bell system. 20,000

C. Completion of security window screens in building A. 99,466

Total funding 619,466

6. Washington middle school, Oahu

A. Replacement of bell system. $ 170,000

B. Upgrade of telephone sytem. 30,900

C. Replacement of public address system. 45,440

Total funding 246,340

7. McCully-Moiliili public library, Oahu

A. Replacement of phone system. $ 3,000

B. Construction of meeting room. 3,500

Total funding 6,500

8. Manoa elementary school, Oahu

A. Electrical system upgrade. 300,000

B. Construction and equipment for a covered play court. 703,000

C. Widening of fire access road. 500,000

D. Ramps for handicapped access. 150,000

Total funding 1,653,000

9. Manoa public library, Oahu

A. Expansion of library. $ 500,000

Total funding 500,000

10. Prince Jonah Kuhio elementary school, Oahu

A. Connection of the administration and library buildings.

Design $ 200,000

Construction 700,000

Total funding 900,000

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2003.
