A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to capitol improvement projects for the BENEFITS of the seventeenth and twenty-second senate districts.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2003-2004:

1. To be expended by the department of education:

A. Mililani high school, Oahu

Design and construction of a twelve- classroom building to replace derelict portables and to provide additional classroom space.

Construction $5,441,000

Total funding $5,801,000

B. Kipapa elementary school, Oahu

Planning, design, and construction of bus drop-off and pick-up area, parking lot improvements, redesign entrance, remove utility poles, and replace the civil defense siren with a solar unit.

Planning $ 50,000

Design $ 1,000

Construction $ 500,000

Total funding $ 551,000

C. Mililani middle school, Oahu

Design and construction of covered play courts and covered bus shelter area.

Design $ 170,000

Construction $1,450,000

Total funding $1,620,000

D. Mililani Mauka II elementary school, Oahu

Construction of a six-classroom addition.

Construction $2,460,000

Total funding $2,460,000

E. Mililani public library, Oahu

Planning and design for expansion of existing parking lot.

Total funding $ 250,000

F. Kanoelani elementary school, Oahu

Replacement of two exhaust vents in Building D $30,000

Re-roof Building F and install five solar fans $ 5,000

Re-roof thirteen portable classrooms and install twenty-six solar fans $140,000

Total funding $175,000

2. To be expended by the department of transportation:

A. Kamehameha highway, Oahu

Plans for widening Kamehameha highway at Kipapa gulch.

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2003.
