A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS CORPORATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. This Act is recommended by the governor for immediate passage in accordance with section 9 of article VII of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii.

SECTION 2. This emergency appropriation is necessary to ensure that the Hawaii health systems corporation can pay its contributions to the employees' retirement system and health fund for the employees of the corporation.

The purpose of this Act is to appropriate an additional $14,000,000 in general funds for fiscal year 2002-2003 to pay for employer contributions of the Hawaii health systems corporation to the employees' retirement system and the health fund.

SECTION 3. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $14,000,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2002-2003 to pay for employer contributions of the Hawaii health systems corporation to the employees' retirement system and the health fund.

SECTION 4. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii health systems corporation for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
