A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE fourteenth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $8,701,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for fiscal year 2003-2004, for the following capital improvements in the fourteenth senatorial district:

1. Aiea Public Library

Land acquisition for public library. $2,900,000

2. Shafter Elementary School

Design and construct additional parking to accommodate staff and parents. $87,000

3. Dole Middle School

Plan, design, construct, and renovate Shop 2 to create three special education classrooms in order to run the Community Base Instruction Program. $800,000

4. Fern Elementary School

A. Re-roof Buildings B, C, and J. $235,000

B. Design and replace acoustical fluffs of the cafeteria ceiling to correct health and safety concerns. $75,000

C. Repair damaged sections of parking lots #2 and #3. $110,000

5. Ka`ewai Elementary School

A. Building Stabilization. $2,000,000

B. Plan, design, construct, and renovate classroom buildings to provide appropriate learning facilities. $1,500,000

6. Kalihi-Waena School

A. Re-roof Buildings A, B, and D. $355,000

B. Plan, design, and construction for the renovation of the existing library. $275,000

7. Linapuni Elementary School

Plan, design, and install air conditioning to alleviate health concerns. $10,000

8. Kapalama Elementary School

A. Design and construct additional parking in front parking lot and re-stripe parking lot. $150,000

B. Resurface and re-stripe basketball courts to address safety concerns. $50,000

9. Red Hill Elementary School

A. Plan, design, and construct covered walkways. $131,000

B. Design and construct water sprinkler system to mitigate erosion problem. $23,000

SECTION 2. The appropriations made for capital improvement projects authorized in this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all appropriations which are unexpended or unencumbered as of June 30, 2006, shall lapse as of that date. SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2003.
