A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to transportation.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds and declares that the appropriation of moneys under this Act for a grant-in-aid to Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc., for the replacement of buses on the island of Maui, is in the public interest and for the public health, safety, and general welfare.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $500,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2003-2004, and the sum of $250,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2004-2005, for a grant-in-aid to Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc., for the replacement of buses on the island of Maui.

SECTION 3. The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2003.
