CONGRATULATING THE KAHUKU HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2003 state FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS,
interscholastic sports offered throughout Hawaii's schools prepare students for numerous challenging and rewarding opportunities by enabling them to apply their physical and mental skills in athletic competition; andWHEREAS, participating in interscholastic sports enhances the physical, mental, and emotional development of Hawaii's student athletes by instilling conditioning, discipline, perseverance, fellowship, and good sportsmanship into the character of our youth; and
WHEREAS, Kahuku h
ead coach Siuaki Livai, a motivator on and off the field and in the classroom as a math teacher, has for eight seasons dedicated himself to promoting these qualities in his team; andWHEREAS,
the Kahuku High School Varsity Football Team embodied these fine attributes and demonstrated their ability to succeed and excel by going undefeated throughout the 2003 season, finishing with a record of 14-0; andWHEREAS,
the Kahuku High School Varsity Football Team capped their perfect season with one of the most thrilling state championship games ever played, a come-from-behind 27-26 victory over Saint Louis, giving them their third state championship in four years; andWHEREAS, the accomplishments of the
Kahuku High School Varsity Football Team are testimonies to the team's hard work, dedication, and team spirit and confer pride on Kahuku High School and the entire Kahuku community; now, therefore,BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2004,
that this body hereby congratulates the Kahuku High School Varsity Football Team on its exciting triumph in the state championship and extends its warmest aloha and best wishes for further success in the future.
