HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

HONORING THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII WAHINE SOCCER TEAM FOR BECOMING THE 2003 WAC CO-CHAMPIONS.

 

 

WHEREAS, inasmuch as our youth represents Hawaii’s future, the Legislature is proud to recognize the achievements of those conscientious and energetic individuals who showcase Hawaii’s best athletic talent; and

WHEREAS, the people of the State of Hawaii take great pride in recognizing select individuals and groups who utilize their talent and energy and achieve great things; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Pinsoom Tenzig, his coaching staff and the players of the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Soccer Team, through their dedication and hard work became the 2003 Western Athletic Conference Co-Champions; and

WHEREAS, the 2003 Rainbow Wahine Soccer Team, set team records for overall wins, WAC wins, road wins, and shutouts; and

WHEREAS, this represents only the 10th season Rainbow Wahine soccer has been in existence and only the 7th year it has competed as the NCAA Division I level; and

WHEREAS, Rainbow Wahine Sophomore Forward Natasha Kai was named third-team All-American, WAC Player of the Year for the second year in a row, named to the All-West Region first team, the Under-21 National Team Roster and led the nation in goals with 29, while shattering more than a dozen school and conference records; and

WHEREAS, Robyn deHay was named First Team All-WAC and Midfielder Joelle Sugai was named to the Second Team All-WAC; and

WHEREAS, Co-Captains Krystalynn Ontai and Joelle Sugai as well as Jessica Uecker and Seline Williams were named to the Academic All-WAC Women's Soccer Team; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2004, hereby congratulate the 2003 University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Soccer Team on becoming the Western Athletic Conference Regular-Season Co-Champions and extends to him its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success of the coaches and members in all their future endeavors.
