HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

URGING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO SUPPORT USE OF INCENTIVES TO USE HYBRID VEHICLES AND OTHER FUEL-SAVING, ENERGY-EFFICIENT, NON-POLLUTING VEHICLES.

 

WHEREAS, hybrid motor vehicles are vehicles which can use fuel or a rechargeable energy storage system to propel themselves; and

WHEREAS, hybrid motor vehicles can be energy efficient, preventing citizens who purchase them from relying so heavily on fuel and oil; and

WHEREAS, hybrid motor vehicles can be a source of clean power, helping to prevent the polluting of our air when driving motor vehicles; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature recognizes the usefulness of using hybrid motor vehicles and other similar vehicles to prevent air pollution, to lower our reliance on fuel and oil, and to allow citizens who drive to become more energy efficient; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature recognizes the importance of providing incentives for citizens of the State to purchase and drive hybrid motor vehicles and other fuel-saving, energy-efficient, non-polluting vehicles for the above purposes; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-Second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2004, the Senate concurring, that the Department of Transportation is urged to support the use of incentives to use hybrid vehicles and other fuel-saving, energy-efficient, non-polluting vehicles; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Transportation, the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate.
