Requires the PUC to maintain a web site that contains commission decisions, and listings of open dockets, upcoming meetings, and pending deadlines. Requires applicants to provide the PUC with application forms via e-mail and other electronic format, except as to information not required to be disclosed under the UIPA. A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to the public utilities commission.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 269, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§269- Commission web site; document posting on web site; personnel. (a) The commission shall maintain a web site that includes:
(1) All decisions and orders issued by the commission; provided that the commission shall give priority to the posting of decisions and orders issued after the effective date of this Act;
(2) A list of all open dockets;
(3) A list of all upcoming commission meetings; and
(4) A list of all pending deadlines.
(b) All application forms filed with the commission shall be submitted by the applicant:
(1) Via electronic mail;
(2) On compact disc in portable document format; or
(3) In any other electronic format prescribed by the commission;
provided that information not required to be disclosed pursuant to chapter 92F is exempt from the requirements of this subsection.
(c) The commission may employ such persons as may be necessary to carry out the requirements of this section."
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the public utilities commission special fund the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2003-2004, for the purposes of this Act.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the public utilities commission.
SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval; provided that section 2 shall take effect on July 1, 2003.
