A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an appropriation for oral health care.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2004-2005, for the purchase and installation of new, and the upgrade of existing, dental chairs and equipment at the Hawaii health systems corporation's health facilities to provide outpatient oral health care to patients over the age of sixty-five who have incomes below the federal poverty level for the State; provided that the oral health care services shall be provided on a regular basis by any or a combination of the following:

(1) Department of health personnel;

(2) Volunteer dentists and dental hygienists referred by the Hawaii Dental Association or the Hawaii Dental Hygienist Association; or

(3) Personnel of a contracted nonprofit health agency.

SECTION 2. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii health systems corporation for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2004.
