A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE TWENTY-SEVENTH REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2003-2004.

1. To be expended by the Department of Accounting and General Services:

A. Kapalama Elementary School

(1) Expansion and paving of front

parking lot with restriping $150,000

(2) Resurfacing and restriping of

basketball courts $ 50,000

Total Funding $200,000

B. Likelike Elementary School

(1) Grade and lay gravel on upper

field adjacent to Iao Lane and

Palama Street. Grass does not grow

in this area and gets dusty $ 50,000

(2) Install automatic sprinklers

and ground improvement for

playground and front yard along

Palama Street. Major play area

for students; difficult to keep

watered and control dust. $ 10,000

(3) Air conditioning for Bldgs. A

and C. Students and staff

complaining of health-related

problems due to dust & mold. $ 10,000

Total Funding $ 70,000

C. Ma'ema'e Elementary School

(1) Library Expansion Project.

Additional space on 2nd floor of

the Library and expansion of

mauka and makai ends of Bldg.

Current facility unable to

facilitate adequate technology

and books/journals for student

population. $1,500,000

(2) Covered Playcourt. New covered

playcourt with a rain barrier

wall facing mauka. Includes

storage and restroom facilities

and water fountains. Currently

the school does not have playrooms

for student use, including for

P.E., especially during rainy

weather. $1,500,000

Total Funding $3,000,000

C. Nuuanu Elementary School

(1) Reroofing Classroom Bldgs. B,

D, E, & I at $36,000 per bldg.

To maintain a safe & healthy

environment. Total $144,000

(2) Reroofing JC walkways. To

maintain a safe & healthy

environment. $ 30,000

Total Funding $174,000

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2004.
