A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to social security numbers.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 281, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§281- Identification cards; social security numbers prohibited. County liquor commissions shall not issue or renew any identification card using the cardholder's or applicant's social security number on the identification card."

SECTION 2. Chapter 46, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§46- Identification cards; social security numbers prohibited. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, no county shall issue or renew any identification card using the cardholder's or applicant's social security number on the identification card."

SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2004.
