A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR TEXTBOOKS FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $1,800,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2004-2005, for the department of education to purchase more new and recently published textbooks in order to update the textbooks periodically and to provide a sufficient number of textbooks for every student enrolled in the public schools.

SECTION 2. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2004.
