A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to garnishment.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 652, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§652-   Administrative fee. For the purposes of garnishment, for each payment sequestered and delivered to the plaintiff from week to week or from month to month, until the judgment, with legal interest thereon, is fully paid or until the defendant is no longer employed by the employer, an employer may deduct and retain as an administrative fee an additional amount of $2 from the judgment owed to the plaintiff."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
