A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the twenty-seventh Representative district.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2003-2004.

1. To be expended by the Department of Accounting and General Services:

A. McKinley High School

(1) Auto shop renovations (Building SH-6)

equipment upgrade and creation of

metal workplace 150,000

(2) Re-roof the cafeteria (Building V) 100,000

(3) Expanding eating area for students 300,000

(4) Upgrade locker rooms and expand building

for students 150,000

(5) Re-roof Building W 200,000

(6) Foundation of Building 857 300,000

Total Funding 1,200,000

B. Kawananakoa Middle School

(1) Renovation/expansion of music building 300,000

(2) Redesign and resurfacing of parking lot 111,000

(3) Covered student Lanai with

security fence 360,000

(4) Replacement and upgrade of electrical

lighting and plumbing system and

general repair and maintenance for

auditorium 600,000

Total Funding 1,371,000

C. Nuuanu Elementary School

(1) Landscaping, re-paving of turn around

adjacent to covered gym 243,000

(2) Upgrade electrical system 175,000

(3) Security screens for Buildings G1, I,

H, F, B, & E 124,000

Total Funding 542,000

D. Kapalama Elementary School

(1) Extension of parking lot 150,000

(2) Resurfacing basketball court 50,000

Total Funding $200,000

E. Maemae Elementary School, Oahu

(1) Renovate the cafeteria to build

a library on the second floor. $2,500,000

Total Funding $2,500,000

F. Kauluwela Elementary School, Oahu

(1) Phase I: Design new cafeteria to

replace 119-year-old cafeteria

building located next to freeway

which is deteriorating, creating a

potentially unsafe and hazardous

condition. $40,000

(2) Design and construct a covered

walkway between Buildings E & S $10,000

Total Funding $50,000

F. Liliha Public Library

(1) Reroofing $500,000

(2) Recarpeting of high traffic areas $15,000

(3) Replacement of circulation desk $50,000

(4) Repainting of bathroom and children's

area $6,000

Total Funding $571,000

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2003.
