A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Section 321-15.1, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending the definition of "assisted living facility" to read as follows:

""Assisted living facility" means a combination of housing, health care services, and personalized supportive services provided by the facility and designed to respond to individual needs, to promote choice, responsibility, independence, privacy, dignity, and individuality. The term may include a privately-owned condominium; provided that seventy-five per cent of the owners in the condominium vote in the affirmative that the condominium provide services that would permit the department to designate it an assisted living facility."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
