A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the twenty-fourth representative district.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2003-2004.

1. To be expended by the department of accounting and general services:

A. Manoa elementary school, Oahu

Design and construction for electrical system improvements to existing capacity to support electrical workload.

Total funding $ 300,000

B. Manoa elementary school, Oahu

Design, construction, and site improvements to a multipurpose covered play court to be used by school for physical education instruction, large assemblies, and A+ programs; area will be available to the community for use during non-school hours.

Total funding $ 703,000

C. Manoa elementary school, Oahu

Design and construction to widen existing fire access road to code, providing parking stalls in intermittent sections on the mauka side of road.

Total funding $ 500,000

D. Manoa elementary school, Oahu

Design and construction of uninterrupted handicapped access ramps from the office walkways to classroom buildings.

Total funding $ 150,000

E. Manoa public library, Oahu

Improvements and expansion of existing library to include planning, design, and land acquisition.

Total funding $ 500,000

F. Noelani elementary school, Oahu

Design and construction of a new cafeteria to replace the old building that is in disrepair.

Total funding $ 900,000

G. Noelani elementary school, Oahu

Design and construction of eight new classrooms, restrooms, and storage areas to accommodate the growing population of students.

Total funding $1,500,000

H. Noelani elementary school, Oahu

Design and construction of a tiled roadway parallel to Woodlawn drive; this is a means to coordinate with the department of transportation's traffic management efforts.

Total funding $ 300,000

I. Noelani elementary school, Oahu

Design and construction of a multipurpose building shared with the park district, to provide for physical education component of the school's curriculum; Manoa elementary school has a similar agreement with the park district.

Total funding $1,500,000

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2003.
