A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR DEPUTY SHERIFFS IN THE CIVIL BRANCH OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, all support personnel, equipment, and services previously appropriated and allocated to deputy sheriffs in the civil branch of the department of public safety, including appropriations, records, equipment, machines, files, supplies, contracts, books, papers, documents, maps, telephones, office space, computers, and clerical staff, that was previously transferred, reduced, or repealed by law, is reinstated or restored to the same level that existed before such transfer, reduction, or repeal.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2003-2004, for the purpose of reinstating all support personnel, equipment, and services to deputy sheriffs in the civil branch of the department of public safety.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of public safety for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2003.
