A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS CORPORATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. This Act is recommended by the governor for immediate passage in accordance with article VII, section 9, of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii.

SECTION 2. This emergency appropriation is necessary to allow the Hawaii health systems corporation to pay its employer contributions to the employees' retirement system and public employees health fund for the employees of the corporation.

The purpose of this Act is to appropriate $14,000,000 in general funds for fiscal year 2002-2003 to fund employer contributions of the Hawaii health systems corporation to the employees' retirement system and the public employees health fund.

SECTION 3. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $14,000,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2002-2003 to fund employer contributions of the Hawaii health systems corporation to the employees' retirement system and the public employees health fund.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii health systems corporation for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2003.
