HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

congratulating EDUCATORS Lynne aki johnson and leonard villanueva as recipients of the 2002-03 milken family foundation national educator award for their outstanding contributions to education in hawaii.

 

 

WHEREAS, it is the role of professional educators to be energetic, enthusiastic, and to encourage students to be "the best they can be" because Hawaii’s teachers are the guardians of our State’s most precious asset – the immeasurable potential of our youth; and

WHEREAS, since 1990, Hawaii has taken part in the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Awards which is presented annually to recognize and reward outstanding education professionals who are advancing excellence in education through quality teaching and professional leadership; and

WHEREAS, LEONARD VILLANUEVA and LYNNE AKI JOHNSON have been selected as recipients of the 2002-03 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award for exemplifying exceptional classroom practice, professional leadership, and an inspirational presence to their students, colleagues, and the community; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2003, that this body hereby recognizes the noteworthy accomplishments of LEONARD VILLANUEVA and LYNNE AKI JOHNSON, congratulates them on being the recipients of the 2002-03 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award, and extends to each of them its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
