A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an Appropriation for a community-based needs assessment study of the senior population in the Kailua-Kona area of hawaii county.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that there is an immediate need to provide for an in-depth community-based needs assessment study of the senior population in the Kailua-Kona area of the Big Island. At present, the data available on the needs of the older adults living in this area is extremely limited. A comprehensive study is needed to determine the number of services, level of need, and other important characteristics of the senior population of this area in order to assist state agencies in improving the kinds and frequency of services provided to this population.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2001-2002, to contract with a private vendor to conduct a community-based needs assessment study of the senior population in the Kailua-Kona area of the Big Island.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the executive office on aging for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
