A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR An economic development MASTER PLAN for the honolulu waterfront.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The Honolulu waterfront is a special public asset that serves as the State's principal harbor and provides boundless opportunities for economic development, public enjoyment, and civil identity. In order to make best use of these opportunities, a master plan for the development of the waterfront must be formulated. The office of planning of the department of business, economic development, and tourism is directed to draft such a plan and transmit it to the legislature no later than twenty days before the convening of the regular session of 2003.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2002-2003, for the formulation of a master plan for the development of the Honolulu waterfront.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of business, economic development, and tourism for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2002.
