HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

CONGRATULATING margaret almony, suzanne acord, leonard wilson, kelly chung, and michael ibara, RECIPIENTS OF THE 2001-2002 outstanding international educator AWARDS FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO EDUCATION IN THE STATE OF HAWAII.

 

 

WHEREAS, the need for global awareness in the classroom and society have pervaded our lives, there is an astounding need to communicate with others in society and around the world in an ever-growing effort to educate others about society and culture; and

WHEREAS, the United States Departments of State and Education first proclaimed a nationwide education week in which Hawaii has taken the lead among all states in promoting global learning; and

WHEREAS, the East-West Center's Consortium for Teaching Asia and the Pacific in the Schools and the Pacific Asian Affairs Council have coordinated the award on the local level since the inception of the award; and

WHEREAS, the International Education Committee has recognized MARGARET ALMONY, SUZANNE ACORD, LEONARD WILSON, KELLY CHUNG, and MICHAEL IBARA for their outstanding service and dedication to the students of Hawaii in promoting global awareness; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2002, that this body hereby recognizes MARGARET ALMONY, SUZANNE ACORD, LEONARD WILSON, KELLY CHUNG, and MICHAEL IBARA, for their outstanding commitment and dedication to the education of Hawaii's students, congratulates them as recipients of the 2001-2002 Outstanding International Educator Award, and extends to all of them its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
