HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

recognizing and CONGRATULATING CAMILLE COATES HAWAII'S JUNIOR MISS, NIKKI-ANN GUEVARRA FIRST RUNNER-UP, AND REMY MINAMI SECOND RUNNER-UP IN THE 2002 HAWAII'S JUNIOR MISS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.

 

WHEREAS, first started in Hawaii in 1959, the Junior Miss Program is part of a nationwide scholarship program to recognize, reward, and encourage excellence, and is supported locally by corporate sponsors, local companies, media personalities, and other individuals that contribute scholarship awards, cash donations, and prizes; and

WHEREAS, Camille Coates, after being selected the overall winner in the Poise and Talent phase performing a vocal and ukulele presentation, was named the 2002 Hawaii’s Junior Miss at the 43rd annual scholarship program held on January 26 and 27, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Camille Coates will represent Hawaii at the America’s Junior Miss program in Mobile, Alabama this summer, where she will compete with forty-nine other high school seniors; and

WHEREAS, as a senior at Hana High and Elementary School where she maintains a 4.0 grade point average, Camille Coates is currently the President of the Maui District Student Council Organization, and dances hula with Halau Hula ‘O Aluanu, and her commitment to excellence serves as an inspiration to young people and has bestowed pride on her family, community, and the State of Hawaii; and

WHEREAS, Nikki-Anna Guevarra, first runner-up, and Remy Minami, second runner-up in the Hawaii’s Junior Miss Scholarship Program, also serve as outstanding role models who bring equal pride and joy to the State of Hawaii; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2002, that this body hereby recognizes and congratulates Camille Coates upon being selected the 2002 Hawaii’s Junior Miss and offers its support and encouragement in the forthcoming America’s Junior Miss program in Mobile Alabama, and extends to her and Nikki-Ann Guevarra, first runner-up, and Remy Minami, second runner-up, its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
