A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to the financing of capital improvement projects for the benefit of the 50th representative district.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $5,600,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2001-2002 for the purpose of funding the following capital improvement projects for schools within the fiftieth representative district.

1. Library-administration building, Ka`elepulu Elementary

School, Oahu

Planning, design, and construction of a

library-administration building, electrical

upgrade to building and installation of air

conditioning for library 1,200,000

2. Improvements, Kailua High School, Oahu

Improvements to (1) athletic facilities,

Including gymnasium floor replacement,

(2) upgrading of campus grounds,

(3) window replacement. 4,600,000

SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this section 1 of this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2004 shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated in section 1 shall be expended by the Department of Accounting and General Services for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2001-2002.

1. To be expended by the Department of Accounting and General Services:

A. Enchanted Lake Elementary School, Oahu

(1) Electrical upgrade to the

elementary school. 200,000

Total Funding 200,000

B. Puohala Elementary School, Oahu

(1) Upgrade electrical system

schoolwide. 100,000

(2) Planning, design, and construction

of a new playground. 70,000

Total funding 170,000

C. Keolu Elementary School, Oahu

(1) Re-roof covered walkway from A to

D buildings. 150,000

(2) Electrical upgrade for school. 75,000

Total Funding 225,000

D. Maunawili Elementary School, Oahu

(1) Planning, design and construction

of sidewalk from library to

cafeteria. 10,000

(2) Construction of eight parking

stalls near cafeteria. 75,000

(3) Electrical upgrade to support

new technology in classrooms. 200,000

(4) Outdoor lighting. 10,000

Total Funding 295,000

E. Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility

(1) Installation of a new chain link

fence. 2,500

Total Funding 2,500

SECTION 5. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 4 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 6. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
