A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an appropriation for various capital improvements in the fourth representative district.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2001-2002.

1. To be expended by the department of transportation:

A. Hawaii belt highway improvements at Alii Koa street and Alii Anela street, Hawaii

Construction of overhead streetlights on Hawaii belt highway in the vicinity of the intersection of Alii Koa street, and at the intersection of Alii Anela street accessing Royal Hawaiian Estates.

2. To be expended by the department of accounting and general services:

A. Pahoa high and intermediate school, Hawaii

Plans, design, construction, and equipment for a gymnasium

B. Pahoa high and intermediate school, Hawaii

Plans, design, construction, and equipment for a covered basketball court

D. Pahoa community school library, Hawaii

Design and construction to enclose a courtyard adjacent to the library in order to accommodate student and public use of the facility.

E. Pahala, Naalehu complex, Hawaii

Long-range plans for school facilities in the Pahala, Naalehu, and Ocean View areas of the Big Island

F. Agricultural water system, Hawaii

Design and construction for an agricultural water system in the Waiohinu-Naalehu district

Design $    1,000

3. To be expended by the county of Hawaii:

A. Ocean View exploratory well development, Ka'u, Hawaii

Planning, design, and construction of an exploratory well at Ocean View in Ka'u, Hawaii. Construction to include pumps, controls, connecting pipeline, and other incidental and related work.

4. To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:

A. Keaau-Pahoa production well, Hawaii

Design and construction for a well, reservoir, and waterline to provide additional water supply capacity to communities, including Hawaiian Paradise Park and Orchid Land Estates, which currently lack a public water system.

B. Community-wide water plan, Hawaii

Plans for a community-wide water plan for the Naalehu, Waiohinu, and South Point areas of the Big Island

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2001.
