RELATING TO GOVERNMENT.

Prohibits preferences in government contracts, programs, services, and workforce policies that affect parental roles in children's health, welfare, and education, that favor one parent over another. (SD1) (KANNO)

RELATING TO PROHIBITION OF DISCRIMINATION BY PUBLIC ENTITIES TOWARDS INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES.

Expands the protection against discrimination by the State against a person with disabilities and expands the coverage to include counties. (SD1)

RELATING TO INDEMNITY.

Includes members who work in collaboration with other licensed health professions in cooperative corporation contracts that solely indemnify in respect to malpractice claims against such members.

RELATING TO TORT ACTIONS.

Enacts a new joint tortfeasor release statute, including rights of contribution; repeals existing joint tortfeasor release statute and right of contribution statute; enacts good faith settlement law for joint tortfeasors and co-obligors.

RELATING TO STATE AND COUNTY TORT LIABILITY.

Provides the State, counties, and lifeguards immunity from liability against damages arising from the operation of beach parks.

RELATING TO TORT LIABILITY IMMUNITY.

Provides immunity from civil liability for trained installers and inspectors of automotive child passenger restraint devices.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 30 copies of their testimony to the committee clerk, Room 202, State Capitol 24 hours prior to the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing. When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.
