RE: GOV. MSG. NO. 262

Honorable Robert Bunda

President of the Senate

Twenty-First State Legislature

Regular Session of 2001

State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 262, submitting for study and consideration the nominations of:

MOTOR VEHICLE INDUSTRY LICENSING BOARD

WAYNE K. DE LUZ and ERNIE K. SEIBOLD, for terms to expire June 30, 2005,

begs leave to report as follows:

Testimony in support of the nomination of Wayne K. De Luz was submitted by the Hawaii Automobile Dealers' Association. The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs testified in support of the nomination of Ernie K. Seibold.

Wayne K. De Luz holds a degree in economics and automotive management from Northwood Institute and is General Manager and Vice President of Corporate Operations for Hilo-Kona Mazda/Subaru. Mr. De Luz has almost twenty years of experience in motor vehicle sales and service.

Ernie K. Seibold has a background in insurance adjusting management and automotive servicing. Mr. Seibold has been a public member of the Board since July, 1997, and currently serves as its Chairperson.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing that are attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, character, experience, and qualifications of the nominees, has found the nominees to be qualified for the positions to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nominations.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection and Housing,
