A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO RIGHTS OF VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 801D, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§801D- Rights for victims of domestic violence. Upon written request, the victim, or the parent or guardian of a minor or incapacitated victim, of an offense under section 586-11 or 709-906, or who has obtained a restraining order under section 580-10 or 586-4, shall have the right to be promptly notified by the defendant's probation officer when the defendant violates any term or condition of probation."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
