                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR PROJECTS
   IN THE COUNTY OF HAWAII.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue
 
 2 general obligation bonds in the sum of $69,261,000, or so much
 
 3 thereof as may be necessary, for fiscal year 1999-2000, for the
 
 4 following projects in the county of Hawaii.
 
 5      1.   Keaukaha gymnasium                          $1,000,000
 
 6      2.   Microwave system relocation
 
 7           and renovation
 
 8                Plans, land, construction, and
 
 9                equipment                              $6,960,000
 
10      3.   Honokaa swimming pool at Honokaa
 
11           school complex
 
12                Design and construction                $450,000
 
13      4.   Laupahoehoe swimming pool at Laupahoehoe
 
14           school complex
 
15                Design and construction                $100,000
 
16      5.   Firefighter training center
 
17                Plans and construction                 $4,500,000
 
18      6.   East Hawaii landfill closure

 2      SECTION 2.  The bond issuances made for capital improvement
 
 3 projects authorized in this Act shall not lapse at the end of the
 
 4 fiscal biennium for which the issuances were made; provided that
 
 5 all bond issuances that are unencumbered as of June 30, 2002,
 
 6 shall lapse as of that date.
 
 7      SECTION 3.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the
 
 8 county of Hawaii.
 
 9      SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 1999.
