                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO GOVERNMENT EMPLOYMENT.
 


BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Chapter 78, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended
 
 2 by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to
 
 3 read as follows:
 
 4      "�78-     Compliance with the Military Selective Service
 
 5 Act.  No person who is required to register with the Selective
 
 6 Service System shall be eligible for employment by any agency of
 
 7 the State or any county unless the person provides written
 
 8 documentation from the Selective Service System that the person
 
 9 has registered or is otherwise in compliance with the Military
 
10 Selective Service Act, 50 U.S.C. section 451 et seq.
 
11      This section shall not apply to those persons who have
 
12 failed to comply with the Military Selective Service Act and have
 
13 reached an age at which registration is no longer required."
 
14      SECTION 2.  This Act shall not apply to those persons who
 
15 are employed by any agency of the State or any county prior to
 
16 the effective date of this Act.
 
17      SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.
