                     A BILL FOR AN ACT

AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS AND MAKING
   AN APPROPRIATION FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE
   FOURTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue
 
 2 general obligation bonds in the sum of $6,075,000, or so much
 
 3 thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof
 
 4 as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2000-2001,
 
 5 for the following projects for the fourth senatorial district.
 
 6      1.   LAHAINALUNA HIGH SCHOOL
 
 7           Plans, design, and construction of a new
 
 8             locker room
 
 9                Plans
 
10                Design
 
11                     Total Funding                      $2,575,000
 
12      2.   WAIHEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, MAUI
 
13           Construction of a new playfield to be
 
14             used for recess and physical education
 
15             classes
 
16                Construction             $3,500,000
 
17                     Total Funding                      $3,500,000
 
18      SECTION 2.  The appropriations made for capital improvement
 
19 projects authorized in this Act shall not lapse at the end of the

 1 fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided
 
 2 that all appropriations which are unencumbered as of June 30,
 
 3 2002, shall lapse as of that date.
 
 4      SECTION 3.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the
 
 5 department of accounting and general services for the purposes of
 
 6 this Act.
 
 7      SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2000.
