                     A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS AND MAKING
   AN APPROPRIATION FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS IN THE
   COUNTY OF HAWAII.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue
 
 2 general obligation bonds in the following sums, or so much
 
 3 thereof as may be necessary, and the same sums, or so much
 
 4 thereof as may be necessary, are appropriated for fiscal year
 
 5 1999-2000 for to finance the projects listed in this Act.
 
 6 EDUCATION PROJECTS
 
 7      (1)  Haaheo School
 
 8                Covered playcourt                           $100,000
 
 9      (2)  Kealakehe Elementary School
 
10                Six classroom building                    $2,180,000

15      SECTION 2.  The appropriations made for capital improvement
 
16 projects authorized in this Act shall not lapse at the end of the
 
17 fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided
 
18 that all appropriations which are unencumbered as of June 30,
 
19 2002, shall lapse as of that date.
 
20      SECTION 3.  The sums appropriated shall be expended by the
 
21 department of accounting and general services for the purpose of
 
22 the projects listed in paragraphs (1) to (5) of section 1; by the
 
23 University of Hawaii for the purpose of the projects listed in

 1 paragraph (6) of section 1; by the department of transportation
 
 2 for the purpose of the projects listed in paragraphs (7) to (9)
 
 3 of section 1; by the county of Hawaii for the purpose the
 
 4 projects listed in paragraphs (10) to (25) of section 1; and by
 
 5 the department of land and natural resources for the purpose of
 
 6 the projects listed in paragraphs (26) and (27) of section 1 of
 
 7 this Act.
 
 8      SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 1999.
