                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO PUBLIC LAND TRUST.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  Section 10-13.3, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is
 
 2 amended to read as follows:
 
 3      "[[]�10-13.3[]]  Interim revenue.  Notwithstanding the
 
 4 definition of revenue contained in this chapter and the
 
 5 provisions of section 10-13.5, and notwithstanding any claimed
 
 6 invalidity of Act 304, Session Laws of Hawaii 1990, the income
 
 7 and proceeds from the pro rata portion of the public land trust
 
 8 under article XII, section 6 of the state constitution for
 
 9 expenditure by the office of Hawaiian affairs for the betterment
 
10 of the conditions of native Hawaiians for each of fiscal year
 
11 1997-1998, [and] fiscal year 1998-1999, fiscal year 1999-2000,
 
12 and fiscal year 2000-2001 shall be $15,100,000."
 
13      SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general
 
14 revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $15,100,000 or so much
 
15 thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 1999-2000 and
 
16 $15,100,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal
 
17 year 2000-2001 for the purposes of this Act.
 
18      SECTION 3.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the
 
19 office of Hawaiian affairs for the purposes of this Act.

 1      SECTION 4.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed.
 
 2 New statutory material is underscored.
 
 3      SECTION 5.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 1999.
