                   A  BILL  FOR  AN  ACT

RELATING TO REGISTRARS FOR ADULT COMMUNITY SCHOOLS. 


BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 1      SECTION 1.  The department of education shall establish one
 
 2 registrar position at each of the following schools, Maui
 
 3 community school for adults, Kauai community school for adults,
 
 4 and Kona community school for adults.  The registrar positions
 
 5 established pursuant to this Act shall be subject to chapters 76,
 
 6 77, and 89, Hawaii Revised Statutes.
 
 7      SECTION 2.  No registrar having tenure on the effective date
 
 8 of this Act at the Maui community school for adults, the Kauai
 
 9 community school for adults, and the Kona community school for
 
10 adults, shall suffer any loss of salary, seniority, prior service
 
11 credit, vacation, sick leave, or other employee benefit or
 
12 privilege as a consequence of this Act, and the registrar shall
 
13 be appointed to a civil service position without the necessity of
 
14 examination; provided that the registrar possesses the minimum
 
15 qualifications for the position to which appointed; and provided
 
16 that subsequent changes in status may be made pursuant to
 
17 applicable civil service and compensation laws.
 
18      SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
