SB 393     RELATING TO HOMELESSNESS                           HHS,WAM

           Makes an appropriation for homeless shelters.

SB 171     RELATING TO WELFARE REFORM                         HHS,WAM

           Requires DHS to  keep  rollover  funds from general
           assistance; requires DHS to place disabled children
           under  TAONF  program   into   SSI  program;  makes
           appropriation   for   GA   program;   makes   three
           appropriations for  DHS  to  purchase services from
           nonprofit entities to aid welfare recipients; bases
           TANF benefits  on  current  poverty level; requires
           LRB to study the general assistance program.

SB 137     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR HEALTH CARE            HHS,WAM
           SERVICES FOR THE UNINSURED

           Appropriates funds to provide health care subsidies
           for uninsured patients at community health centers.

SB 395     RELATING TO HEALTH                                 HHS,WAM

           Makes appropriation  for  DHS  and  DOH  to support
           primary care for medically underserved population

SB 853     RELATING TO SAFETY NET HEALTH PLANS                HHS,WAM

           Establishes a safety net  health plan program under
           the  department  of  human  services  to distribute
           QUEST funds to safety net health plans.

SB 157     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE                 HHS,WAM
           PREVENTIVE DENTAL SERVICES TO ADULTS

           Appropriates funds  to  DHS  to  provide preventive
           dental services for adults.


 


 
SB 151     RELATING TO CHILD PROTECTIVE ACT                   HHS,JDC

           Requires the family court to  set a case for a show
           cause  hearing  if  the  child  has  been  residing
           without the  family  home  for  a  period of twelve
           months or if there has been a court ordered service
           plan for one year.

SB 1015    RELATING TO CHILD PROTECTION                       HHS,WAM

           Requires department  of  human  services  to notify
           police of all  reports  received by department with
           regard  to  child   abuse.     Requires  permanency
           planning  within   twelve   months   of  a  child's
           placement in foster care.

SB 176     RELATING TO CHILDREN                               HHS,JDC

           Toughens Hawaii's criminal laws for perpetrators of
           child abuse.

SB 175     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE                    HHS,WAM
           PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

           Appropriates  funds   for   various   programs  and
           services  for  the   protection   of  children  and
           families.

SB 178     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR HEALTHY START          HHS,WAM

           Appropriate $        for Healthy Start program.

SB 180     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE        HHS,WAM
           PREVENTION AND TREATMENT SERVICES

           Appropriates funds  for  substance abuse prevention
           and treatment programs.

SB 154     RELATING TO DISABILITIES                           HHS,WAM

           Appropriations for  developmentally  disabled (DD),
           mentally retarded (MR);  sets  up  special fund for
           developmentally disabled; allows services for DD/MR
           living    independently    outside    of   licensed
           facilities;  requires  audit   of  case  management
           services provided by DOH for DD/MR.


 
 
 


 
SB 496     RELATING TO SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH              HHS,WAM
           DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

           Mandates transfer of DOH's HTH 501 funds to the DHS
           to fund  home-  and  community-based services under
           the DHS's Medicaid waiver  program.   Requires  DOH
           to reorganize  the  functions  of the developmental
           disabilities  division  to  ensure  the  closure of
           Waimano,  and  to  provide  for  the  clients  from
           Waimano to be transferred to the community.

SB 802     RELATING TO THE COMMISSION ON PERSONS              HHS,WAM
           WITH DISABILITIES

           Creates a special fund in the commission on persons
           with  disabilities;  allows  commission  to  charge
           reasonable fees to  review  private sector building
           plans   to   comply   with   the   Americans   with
           Disabilities Act requirements.    Allows fund to be
           used for commission staff and operations.

SB 149     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR RESPITE CARE           HHS,WAM
           SERVICES FOR FAMILIES OF INDIVIDUALS WITH
           SPECIAL NEEDS

           Makes appropriation to the department of health for
           respite care  services  to  families providing home
           care to a family member who has special needs.

SB 865     RELATING TO THE DEAF AND BLIND                     HHS,WAM

           Creates a blue ribbon  panel  to conduct a study of
           state services and  programs  relating  to deaf and
           blind persons.
