Honorable Calvin K.Y. Say
Speaker, House of Representatives
Twentieth State Legislature
Regular Session of 1999
State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No.
1179 entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO COMMERCIAL MARINE LICENSES,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this bill is to clarify statutory provisions
relating to the issuance of commercial marine licenses by:

     (1) Allowing the Department of Land and Natural Resources
(DLNR) to require catch reports from only certain
          licensees; and

     (2) Authorizing DLNR to obtain any other information from
commercial marine licensees to ensure the gathering of
          more appropriate and useful information.

DLNR testified in support of this bill.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your
Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your
Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No.
1179 and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
