Family Background
Born and raised in Hawaii, she is the great great-granddaughter of Ching Alee, Hawaii's first Chinese Consul General, first president of the United Chinese Society (UCS), and the great-granddaughter of Wong Kai Kee, first importer of Chinese crack seed or "see-mui". She is the granddaughter of Wong Koon Chuck and Mew Ng Au, proprietors of the New England Bakery located in Kakaako pre-WWII. Her parents are Mr. Ronald T.K. Ching and Mrs. Ethel Ching, both Roosevelt H.S. graduates '51. She has a brother Kendall Ching, who is married to the former Koren Osumi, and a sister Ronda married to attorney David Day, all of Oahu.
