RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE.

Amends the minimum appointment eligibility requirement for the Adjutant General to be an officer that holds or has held a commission of the rank of Colonel in the military grade of O6 or above in the Army or Air National Guard, state defense force, or the Army or Air Force active component of the United States or a reserve component thereof, and has no administrative actions that would prevent promotion to the rank of a general officer in the military grade of O7 or O8 through amendment to section 121-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes.

Status

RELATING TO HAWAII NATIONAL GUARD.

Improves and enhances the ability to have Hawaii National Guard personnel who can serve on active duty in the service of the State without financial hardship through modifications and additions to chapter 121, Hawaii Revised Statutes by authorizing the Hawaii National Guard to add the payment of Tricare Reserve Select or other government funded premium payments to the authorized service member who are not otherwise covered by the State or federally funded medical insurance.

Status

RELATING TO THE RESIDENTIAL LANDLORD-TENANT CODE.

Establishes a process for the early termination of a rental agreement for certain active duty servicemembers who receive military orders to vacate civilian housing and move into on-post government quarters; become eligible to live in on-post government quarters and failure to move into on-post government quarters will result in a forfeiture of basic allowance for housing; or die while serving on active duty.

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may not be processed.

 

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.

 

The chair may institute a per-testifier time limit.

 

Committees meeting in the morning must adjourn prior to the day's Floor Session.  Therefore, due to time constraints, not all testifiers may be able to testify.  However, all written submissions will be considered by the committee.

 

Please refrain from profanity or uncivil behavior.  Violations may result in ejection from the hearing without the ability to rejoin.

 

The House will not be responsible for bad connections on the testifier's end.
