Provides that a public school shall not be required by the Department of Education to expend its own school funds to maintain any geographically disadvantageous land on or adjacent to its property.  (HB1070 HD1)

Establishes the Teacher Mentor Incentive Program within the Department of Education.  (HB1530 HD1)

RELATING TO PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOLS.

Establishes new reporting requirement for charter schools.  Requires establishment of a purchase order system to pay charter school expenses.  Requires authorizers to select the independent auditors.  Prohibits affiliations between Board of Education or Charter School Commission members and charter schools.  (HB622 HD2)

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH SERVICES.

Formally establishes the Hawaii Keiki: Healthy and Ready to Learn program and special fund within the Department of Education.  Appropriates funds for positions and a vision screening and eye assessment tool, and to implement, expand, and sustain the program.  (HB250 HD2)
