Establishes one full-time equivalent (1.00 FTE) world languages institutional support position within the Department of Education.  Appropriates funds to fund the position.  (HB1941 HD1)

RELATING TO THE INCOME CHECK-OFF.

Changes from $2 to an unspecified amount of authorized income tax check-off that may be designated payable from an individual's state income tax refund to the libraries special fund.  Changes from $4 to an unspecified amount permitted to joint filers in the designation of check-off to the Libraries Special Fund.  Applies to taxable years beginning after December 31, 2017.  Takes effect July 1, 2050.  (SD1)

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Requires the Department of Education (DOE) to develop and implement a statewide computer science curricula plan for public school students in K-12 and ensure each public high school offers at least one computer science course each school year.  Authorizes DOE to contract for computer science teacher development programs.  Appropriates funds.  Takes effect 7/1/2025.  (SD1)

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Reinstates the President of the University of Hawaii as the chief procurement officer for contracts for construction and construction related professional services furnished by licensees under chapter 464, Hawaii Revised Statutes.  Adds to the University of Hawaii board of regents two ex officio nonvoting members who are faculty at the university.  Prohibits the University of Hawaii board of regents from increasing tuition fees until an unspecified date.  Requires the university to report to the legislature regarding tuition increases and the university's repair and maintenance costs.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD1)
