RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY.
Appropriates funds to the Office of the Governor; the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations; the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism; the Department of Human Resources Development; and the Department of Agriculture to collaboratively develop and implement solutions to assist dislocated workers and address the overall continued availability of gainful employment on the island of Molokai.  (HB2671 HD1)

Status and Testimony

RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION.
Provides that a duly qualified physician or duly qualified surgeon selected and paid for by an employer to perform a medical examination on an employee relating to a work injury under workers' compensation shall be duly qualified to treat the injury being examined, possess medical malpractice insurance, and owe the same duty of care to the injured employee as to a traditional patient.  (HB2202 HD2)

RELATING TO ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS.
Extends the sunset date of the limited exemption from licensing requirements for electrical contractors who are retained by a public utility within the State to perform high voltage (600 volts or higher) electrical work and are deemed qualified by the public utility.  Requires reports to the Legislature on workforce development activities for qualified high voltage electrical contractors.  (HB1880 HD3)

RELATING TO EMPLOYEE TRAINING.
Establishes the Public Employees Training Program within the Department of Human Resources Development to provide training programs to improve and enhance state employees' understanding of their job duties.  Allocates one percent of collective bargaining increases to the Public Employees Training Program.  (HB2077 HD1)

RELATING TO EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.
Allows payment of employer contributions to the Employees' Retirement System in advance of the fiscal year in which the contributions are required; provides for interest on and application of the advance payments.  (HB2336 HD1)

RELATING TO LABOR.
Requires employers to provide a minimum amount of paid sick leave to employees to be used to care for themselves or a family member who is ill or needs medical care, or due to a public health emergency.  Gives employers flexibility to offer paid sick leave to minimum wage and other employees or to pay minimum wage employees a salary that is more than the minimum wage.  (HB1727 HD1)
