A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO YOUTH SUICIDE PREVENTION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that Maui county has the highest rate of youth suicide attempts in the State and has become a serious concern for the community and State overall.

     The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds to support youth suicide early intervention, prevention, and education initiatives in Maui county.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2018-2019 to support youth suicide early intervention, prevention, and education initiatives in Maui county that focus upon, but are not necessarily limited to persons between the ages of ten and twenty-four.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 3000.
