A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to hotels.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 201B, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§201B-
Human trafficking;
training course. The
authority shall develop, establish, and make available to hotel owners, operators,
and employees a course of training on appropriate handling and response
procedures for suspected human trafficking activities. Training courses shall be accessible on the
authority's website or another suitable website designated by the authority. The authority shall encourage participation by
the hotel industry in training courses; provided that participation in the
training courses shall be voluntary.
As used
in this section, "hotel" also includes "hotel-condominium"
and "condominium-hotel" and has the same meaning as in section 486K-1."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
