A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO MEDICINE.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 453, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§453-    Required acceptance of medicare patients. 

(a)  Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, beginning January 1,     , any physician who practices medicine or surgery in the State shall accept medicare patients.

     (b)  As used in this section, "physician" means a person licensed to practice medicine and surgery by the Hawaii medical board pursuant to chapter 453."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
