A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to economic development.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 206M-54, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

     "§206M-54  Innovation corporation; exempted from certain state laws.  The high technology innovation corporation shall be exempt from the following state laws:

     (1)  Section 78-1, relating to public employment;

     (2)  Chapter 36, relating to the management of state funds;

     (3)  Chapter 38, relating to deposits of public funds; [and]

     (4)  Chapter 76, relating to civil service[.]; and

     (5)  Chapter 103D, relating to the Hawaii public procurement code."

     SECTION 2.  Act 240, Session Laws of Hawaii 2012, is amended as follows:

     1.  By repealing part III:

["PART III

     SECTION 5.  The purpose of this part is to repeal the high technology innovation corporation.

     SECTION 6.  Chapter 206M, part IV, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is repealed."]

     2.  By amending section 8 to read:

     "SECTION 8.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval[; provided that section 6 shall take effect on June 30, 2013]."

     SECTION 3.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval; provided that section 2 shall take effect on June 29, 2013.
