Senator 
Gary L. Hooser 
Senator Gary Hooser is a State Senator representing the beautiful Islands of Kaua'i and Ni'ihau since 2003. As the majority leader and member of the Committee on Ways and Means, he holds one of the top leadership positions in the Hawai'i State Legislature.

During his political career, Senator Hooser has been actively engaged in many community oriented issues including renewable energy, shoreline access, affordable housing, and agriculture. One of his most significant accomplishments to date was introducing and passing into law the nation's first solar hot water heating system requirement for new homes.

Born on January 19, 1954, Senator Hooser and his wife, Claudette, have two children: Dylan and Kelli-Rose. He has lived on Kaua'i for more than 30 years and is a graduate from Radford High School (Class of 1972), Kaua'i Community College and the University of Hawai'i - West O'ahu.
